(SN:172 – A$990) 3/4 SIZE: Handmade violin labelled as a Mathias Heinecke violin, from Bohemia-Czech Violin, Wildstein (Eger). Made approximately 1930. Not to be confused with Mathias Heinicke as it is labelled as made by Mathias Heinecke.
There is a Label on the inside that reads:
MATHIAS-HEINECKE
Geigenbauer
Wildstein-b-Egden
Bohemia
The back of this instrument measures 13″ not including the neck. Overall measurement is 22″ from top to bottom. Branded internally, bearing the maker’s label.
The moderately to finely grained spruce of the top and deeply flamed maple of the two-part back are varnished with a thick coat of a light golden-yellow; areas of crackling and a lovely patina give this violin an historic appearance. The small, cleanly carved sound holes create an elegant air. The instrument is in very good condition.
